How you can benefit from using adhesives?

Though there are many other techniques to create a bond such as welding, riveting, using screws etc. people mostly prefer to use adhesives. Have you ever wondered why? This is because there are many benefits that you can derive from using adhesives made of polyurethane dispersion and other such elements that other bonding techniques won’t give you.

Let’s go through the benefits to understand them better:

  • Adhesives can be used to join different materials of different sizes and compositions, retaining their original properties.
  • They can be used to join almost everything from plastics and glasses to ceramics and metals.
  • The chances of corrosion as a result of two different materials joining using rivets or screws are reduced with the use of adhesives.
  • The substrates or materials joined using adhesives are safe as they won’t be damaged or deformed as in case of other joining techniques.
  • They reduce the manufacturing costs and improve the aesthetic appeal of the products after packaging or joining.
  • They offer flexibility in the design and packaging of the products, making it look more appealing.
Apart from the top reasons that we’ve mentioned above, there are many other reasons that makes adhesives so popular in almost every industry. However, the adhesives produced using polyurethane dispersion is considered to be more beneficial.

How beneficial are epoxy resins?

When compared to other resins, epoxy resins are better in strength. Also, they are more transparent and look cleaner. To harden both liquid and solid epoxy resins, waterborne epoxy curing agents can be used. However, many people are not aware of the benefits of using epoxy resins, so we’re here with some of its benefits.

  • They can be better used for casting forms that will be exposed to pressure. Also, due to enhanced chemical resistance and moisture, they can be used for exterior sculpture.
  • When used with fillers, resin has a very good gap-filling property and can be used as an adhesive. It can bond metal, wood, plastic etc. very well.
  • When it comes to taking fillers, epoxy can take a variety of it starting from marble dust to metal powders. You can mix the fillers with epoxy and use it for a more durable result. However, before you add filler, mix hardener first as it will give you a better result.
  • With better wetting property and toughness, epoxy resin is used for laminating or coating. It is a special component used in paint finish. Epoxy with aldimine is also used for better coating.
Epoxy resins can be your best choice if you want an odourless coating option at a reasonable cost. The epoxy curing agents used are making these epoxy resins a tougher and durable option. You can look for a reputable company that manufactures such products to serve your purpose.

Why to Use Waterborne Polyurethane for Floor Coatings?

Many a times, selecting between oil and waterborne polyurethane may seem to be a no brainer but it is not as easy as you may be thinking it to be. Though oil based polyurethane may last longer and look better, water based also offers some great advantages. Let’s go through some of them:

  • Water based polyurethane dries faster as compared to the oil based. You can complete the work faster and walk on the floor when using waterborne polyurethane. This can be quite beneficial for businesses where the drying time means the store has to be closed.
  • When compared to the oil based poly, the water based doesn’t smell too bad. This is the reason why many houses prefer to use the water based poly. Due to its increasing popularity some leading manufacturer of oxazolidines also manufactures waterborne polyurethane dispersions for use in different residential and commercial areas.
  • With lower Volatile Organic Compounds, water based poly is bit better for the environment. This benefit has an impact during its drying time and this is the reason why manufacturers are making more money on the water based.

We hope this post will help you in making a better and informed decision with the better reasons to use water based poly coating. You can look for professionals who use water based poly for floor coatings and offer services at decent prices.

Waterborne epoxy for protective coatings and flooring markets

Waterborne epoxy came as a major replacement for solvent-borne epoxies. And they were an immediate hit with the markets and countries which had introduced strong environmental and worker safety regulations. Today, waterborne or water-based epoxies have come a long way and are used in multiple industries across operations and applications.

Waterborne epoxy is extensively used for protective coatings and in flooring markets. Its popularity has grown manifold in recent years.

Since water based epoxies do not contain the harmful substances that solvent-based epoxies once used to have, more and more households and industries prefer waterborne epoxy.

They are preferred where excellent chemical or corrosion resistance is demanded. Epoxy systems also make sense when it comes to achieving exemplary adhesion to a wide variety of substrates, such as steel and concrete.

Companies have also leveraged on water based epoxies to develop zero VOC coatings. It is to be noted that zero or low VOC products are gaining traction across the world, particularly in countries with stringent environmental legislation. The absence of hazardous solvents makes the products more environmentally-friendly. And then there is added bonus in the form of low odour, and easy cleaning by even water.

Waterborne epoxy, however, is not without flaws. We’ll discuss the flaws of waterborne epoxy in the next blog post. So stay tuned. And if you have something up on your mind about epoxy or want to know about the leading names in waterborne epoxy manufacturing, do drop us a comment below.

Easy Tips to Clean Metals At Home

A lot of things we have at home are made of metal. Metals are everywhere, from the kitchen to the garden and everything in between – metal has a very real presence in our lives and you cannot deny their role in your life and neither can you ignore metallic objects because metals are prone to being damaged by rust. There are steps that will help you prevent rusting, but no matter how much you try there is only so much you can do to prevent eventuality. Here are some tips that will help you with removing rust.

Vinegar for Cleaning Copper
Copper utensils take on a greenish tinge after using it for months. This is rather easy to clean. Just place your copper utensil in the sink and pour a generous amount of white vinegar and then scrub a little salt on the surface. You may need to repeat the process more than once to get the new penny shine, but it will come with a little work.

Removing Calcium Build Up in Metals
Calcium rings that form on metal surfaces have been an age old problem. Water contains calcium and when it drains down it leaves behind a clear mark in the form of rings. Thankfully it is very easy to clean. Take a few wedges of used lemon, hold it flesh first to the metal surface and scrub it a few times. By the time you are done, the rings will be gone and the utensil will smell very fresh as well.

Putting shine back in silver
When you don’t use silver for many months it tends to become dull and dirty. You can put the shine back in silver very easily. Take a little toothpaste, any type works but the traditional muddy type toothpaste works best. Just polish your silver with it and you will have silver dishes and utensils that shine impressively.

For metal stuff that just doesn’t want to leave their dull selves behind, take them to a professional cleaner. Application of chemicals like Aldimine works great on most type of metallic surfaces.

Zero VOC Surface Coating with Polyurethane Dispersions

The environmentally conscious agencies all around the globe took notice of the effects it had on our fragile eco system caused by VOC laced coating materials and thanks to legislative changes that have been brought about today there are very few nations on earth that still use VOC coating contents.

Waterborne Polyurethane Dispersions (PUDs) are coatings and adhesives that use water as the primary solvent, and unlike other products that release hazardous air pollutants, these are completely safe and are therefore considered better for all practical applications. Notable also is the fact that in terms of cover and effectiveness as a coating agent there is nothing lacking in it. Polyurethane Dispersions do not contain isocyanate residues and therefore doesn’t release VOC in the air. Another factor that makes PUDs so popular is that it is available in varying degrees of hardness and can be blended into low cost dispersion solutions.

The primary application of waterborne epoxy is in the pharmaceutical and personal hygiene industry. This is where the need for clean surfaces and nice smooth places is a necessity. When waterborne products were not common, VOC laced coating products were used everywhere; also some used tiles as an alternative but it was soon found that the cracks and gaps in the floors were becoming home for germs and pathogens. The only way to ensure to make the surface clean without any compromise to health and hygiene was to use Polyurethane Dispersions.
